About 1 year ago, a client of mine, Adaline, who was struggling with her weight, diabetes, and blood pressure decided that she wanted to have a different life than what she had always experienced.
Adaline survived being raped as a child living in subsidized housing of a large city. As a result, Adaline's weight and health suffered dramatically into adulthood.
When I met Adaline she had recently remarried and wanted to try something different to improve her health through health coaching.
Over the next 6 months, Adaline met with me regularly and was open to experimenting with different strategies to improve her stress, nutrition, and activity level.
She discovered things that did not work for her making the things that DID work very CLEAR. She also gained a greater understanding of her triggers to unhealthy behaviors and how to manage them on a daily basis.
As a result of Adaline's perserverance and desire for a different life, she lost 28 lbs and stabilized her blood sugar and blood pressure into the normal range. Through tears, she explained that her cardiologist released her from quarterly doctor appointments saying to her, "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it. I don't need to see you again until 1 year from now."
